This type of counseling applies to for psychology students (whether at diploma or bachelor’s level)

It is a reflective and supportive process where students engage in therapy to better understand themselves, enhance emotional awareness, and prepare for the demands of working in the mental health field.

This therapy helps students explore their own thoughts, behaviors, and unresolved issues that may influence how they relate to future clients.

It also builds essential skills like self-awareness, empathy, emotional regulation, and boundary-setting.

Many training programs recommend or require personal therapy as part of professional development, encouraging students to experience the therapeutic process from the client’s perspective.

It provides a safe space to manage academic pressure, imposter feelings, personal triggers, and the emotional intensity of psychological training.

Some of the requirements for this is a copy of your school ID and a letter from school requiring you to complete personal therapy.
