It is a type of psychotherapy that involves two or more family members working with a trained therapist to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationships. It focuses on how the family functions as a whole rather than placing blame on one individual.

Family therapy can help with issues like parent-child conflict, blended family adjustments, sibling rivalry, grief and loss, behavioral challenges in children or teens, substance use, mental health concerns affecting a family member, or navigating major transitions like divorce or illness. The therapist helps family members understand each other’s perspectives, break negative patterns, and develop healthier ways of relating.

Sessions may include the whole family or select members, depending on the goal, and typically last 60minutes.
